He is from Edmonton and will be searching the internet to see if he can find the production near enough to his home so he can take his mother. The cast was great and very engaging with all the ladies from that era, asking for pictures and autographs. I recommend it to friends for a great night out"

"Having recently seen Zach Stevenson portraying Buddy Holly in Grand Forks, BC and been very impressed with his performance, we just had to come to Vancouver to see the Buddy Holly Story. We were not disappointed. He was quite simply, superb. His vocals mimicked Buddy Holly so well, that Buddy himself, if he was alive, would not have been able to tell the difference.
Congratulations on a wonderful performance"
—Peter, Grand Forks

—Russ, Vancouver

"I saw this show at the Surrey Arts Club last fall, but this production was by far better. The energy from the cast was amazing. I felt at times I was at the actual concert and not seeing a stage production. The cast was well-chosen, and it seemed they enjoyed doing the show as much as the audience enjoyed it, that is special gift. My husband and my best friend were also as enthusiastic and on a high as we left the theatre. The audience participation added to the ambiance of the time period. It was perfect performance and day to head a nearby patio to seat outdoors with a beer and appys to relive our favorite songs"
—Genie, Langley

"Excellent—was so entertaining. Zachary was awesome—so so good!! Big bopper and Valens were great also. Such great entertainment—would pay to see it again!! Loved the CDs. So enjoyable. Felt you were actually there reliving the moment!!"
—Gail, Victoria

"A show for the whole family, from 6 to 70, we all had a wonderful time. Amazing performances and a show we could enjoy over and over. My grandson wanted to know if they were showing it again the same night. Buddy Holly has been our road trip music for a lifetime and this is as good as it gets. Zachary is outstanding as Buddy. Listened to it all the way home and have CD in my car"
—Margaret, Mission

"Fabulous!!!!"
—Sharon, Prince Rupert

"A high energy, positive, brilliant and uplifting visit with one of the founders of Rock n Roll. It’s like attending a personal concert, but so much better. Zachary Stevenson is nothing short of magical in his portrayal of Buddy Holly, and his enthusiastic performance is utterly contagious, not to mention his phenomenal musical talent. All you'd need is a dance floor at the Stanley, and you'd have the most popular place in town. It’s the best way to spend an evening in Vancouver, ever"
—Joe, Vancouver

"Fantastic! It's the second time I've seen it, and would highly recommend it to anyone and I'd go again. The acting is superb—you feel you are back in the 1950s, being a member of the living history of the Buddy Holly Story. The music and the musicians were absolutely true to form of the original songs. The only thing I wish is that we had a dance floor to get up and dance throughout the play, especially at the end. I also appreciated Zachary Stephenson's comments at the very end of the play—sharing with us his gratitude at being able to do this role for seven seasons, years more than the real Buddy Holly! I felt that he was authentic and real and I thought it added a touch of his own humanity to the play. Another wonderful theatre experience—thanks Arts Club!"
—Susan, Vancouver

"A very well done show. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Zachary Stevenson does an amazing interpretation of Buddy Holly! Highly recommend!"
—Alan

"What an incredible night! We were all standing on our feet dancing and cheering at the end! Thrilling to be part of the audience!!! Best production I have seen in a looooong time! Am now a huge Zachary Stevenson fan!"
—Liz, North Vancouver

"I couldn't stop bopping in my seat. Knew all the words—the joy of being a senior"
—Michele

"I loved it! I could barely restrain myself from jumping out of my seat and dancing to the music. The cast was fantastic. I couldn't stop singing “Peggy Sue” all the way home. Thanks for a great evening"
—Karen

"The best musical I've seen at the Arts Club. I'm old enough to remember Buddy Holly's music in my daily life, and I got all of those feelings back during the show. Zachary Stevenson is utterly amazing, and the rest of the cast was great too! A wonderful experience"
—Keith, West Vancouver

This show could run for years and still be a hit"

"Excellent...we have now seen it three times, and like it better every time...best show in VANCOUVER BY A LANDSLIDE!!!"
—Betty, Vancouver

"From my heart , here goes......we just loved this show, after 5 minutes I felt I was watching the real Buddy Holly. As the show was getting near the end, I wondered if I would be reaching for my sunglasses to hide the tears but was so glad the show ended on such a happy note. What a thrill to see such talent. The Stanley theatre is so intimate. What a perfect venue for this production"
—Jill, Surrey

"We absolutely loved it! We will tell all our friends to come!"
—Miriam

"Went to the show on a whim cause it was my birthday and was treated to the best stage musical both me and my girlfriend have ever seen. The music was amazing and the venue is my favorite in Vancouver. It was so good I plan to take my mom and dad"
—John

"Excellent show. Best one I've seen. The cast was great and very talented. I thought it was really nice and very personable when Zachary came out on stage to enlighten us of his acting career and when he met us in the lobby to chat and sign autographs. The audience was really into the music. I had a wonderful evening and would/will highly recommend this production. Thank you"
—Valerie, Vancouver

"Firstly it must be said that the talent of Zachary Stevenson makes this play amazing! He literally brings to life the character of Buddy Holly, and he is a “dead ringer for dead singers.” The production itself is wonderfully directed—it’s half concert half pla—it tells the story and involves the audience as part of the story, as we are right there at the Apollo Theatre. Loved loved loved this!! Perfection!!!!"
—Alice, Vancouver

"Great show. Keeps you moving for two hours. Wonderful job of bringing back the 50s"
—Jerome

"So much more than I could have imagined. Like truly being in the presence of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper. The whole dedicated, talented cast was amazing. They created a soulful, joy-filled, heartfelt real experience that I'm sure changed all that attended, for the better. Thank you so much. How do I buy the C.D.'s?!?!?!"
—Brenda, Mission

"Love every minute of it—couldn’t sit still. Awesome..."
—Bonni

"This is the third time we have seen Buddy—one a year, with Zach as the lead. Still not tired and plan to attend again next time around. We see more and learn more each time we see the play. A wonderful performance and not to be missed!"
—Sandra, Vancouver

"Absolutely wonderful. This is the second time I saw it. Enjoyed it even more this time. My husband just loved it and so did our daughter. Wonderful way to spend the afternoon. All the cast was so talented. Singing was superb"
—Pat

"ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! EVERY ACTOR WAS AMAZING, IT WAS TRULY WONDERFUL. IT WAS BRILLIANT!"
—Dolina, Vancouver

"Really enjoyed the show. We were all surprised how good this show was. I don't know why, thought it would be a typical musical production, but we felt like we were in the audience of a real Buddy Holly concert. Loved the way the cast drew us into their performance. Zachary Stevenson truly was amazing..."
—Margaret

"I was expecting good, maybe somewhat entertaining, but WOW! "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story" blew my mind! I took my parents, husband, and little brother to see the show this past Sunday (July 29th, 2012) as a birthday treat for my mom. Truth be told, my parents are not easily impressed so, going in, I wasn't sure what they were going to think of "Buddy" but wouldn't you know it, they're still talking about it three days later! Everything about the production was excellent. Just the right amount of story and music and the acting! Zach Stevenson who played the role of Buddy Holly was absolutely amazingly talented, right down to the mannerisms. The musicianship across the board was fantastic and spot-on. The sets were well-designed and clever (especially with the audience/backstage curtains). Going back to the story, I know we were all a little worried about how the production would handle the impending death of Buddy during the second act but that, too, was subtle and tasteful without bringing the mood of the theatre down. While I am certainly aware of the history of music in that era, my parents, both of whom grew up with Buddy Holly's music, said the production brought back a lot of fond memories. So, Vancouverites, go and see this production! It will definitely appeal to you whether you're a music fan, theatre lover, looking for a family event, or like to be entertained. Highly recommended!"
—Rebecca

"Absolutely OUTSTANDING. The most alive, entertaining, and energetic production I've seen at the Stanley. Bravo"
—Val, Vancouver

"Outstanding performance! We thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Zachary is gifted and his CD's are awesome : ) "
—Cheryl

"The show was fabulous, high energy right to the end. Zachary Stevenson was amazing, a very great talent. All the cast were terrific. You wanted to jump out of your seat and start dancing. I would highly recommend this show to all"
—Donna, Vancouver

"For a Mother's day gift, we decided to treat the family to an evening out at an Arts Club play. In order for my brothers to agree to see something, they were clearly drawn to see Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story over any other options. It was incredible! The entire family loved it and are still raving about it; it was like seeing Buddy Holly in concert. Zachary Stevenson is a brilliant Buddy!"
—Sheena

"Absolutely fantastic! I had a girlfriend visiting from the US and bought tickets for us to see Buddy. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this play. Great evening out!"
—Kelly, Port Moody

"What a great time was had by all at this production!! The cast and the crew put their heart and soul into this play so the audience was drawn into it from the moment it began! The talent, the energy, the sets/costumes/lighting AND the music!! Where did you find Zach??? He was simply amazing!!! (and a pleasure to meet afterwards....) Thank you for this musical treat to our community and to the many out of town guests who attended last night! Yes, I will tell EVERYONE about this event!! BRAVO to you all!!!"
—Joan, South Surrey

"TOTALLY LOVED IT!!! The CAST is more than outstanding...each and every one! Thanks for the obvious hard work that went into the production. It wouldn't take much for me to buy a second or third ticket...maybe it's my AGE!"
—Janna, Bellingham, WA

"After seeing this show in Kelowna last year, my husband was so impressed that when we had an opportunity to see it in Vancouver on our way home from an Oregon vacation, we decided to take the whole family. We weren't disappointed, as it was a great show once again"
—Lori, Kelowna

"My friend and I went to the Buddy Holly story last night and had a wonderful time. Zachary Stevenson does an incredible job as Buddy Holly and is well-supported by the rest of the amazing cast. I'd highly recommend this play; in fact, I'm hoping to see it at least one more time. Great music, superb performances, a very fine evening, indeed!"
—Moira

"Who said one can't relive their past? You can come pretty close at Buddy—Zach is stellar and the rest of the is cast amazing—and the nostalgia they create speaks to the heart"
—Don, Surrey

"Being a music teacher, I'm a firm believer in the power of the arts, and music in general. Buddy is as good as it gets. The music is timeless, the story is tragic, and yet triumphant because the music lives on and has inspired so many musicians of today. Zachary nails Buddy to a tee. We saw him perform two years ago and loved it so much we brought guests on Thursday. The entire ensemble's enthusiasm and unbelievable energy were felt just as strongly this time as last. We love Buddy!"
—Teresa

"Excellent, very energetic performance on Sat Aug 3rd. Audience enthusiasm was palpable with many up dancing at the finale. My friend visiting from Toronto enjoyed it thoroughly, as did I seeing it for the second time"
—Jean

"Wonderful! I was dancing in the streets! And such a charming, gracious and modest Buddy Holly"

"Some shows just get better on the second viewing...we found that to be the case with The Buddy Holly Story..so fresh, full of humour, energy , great singing dancing and acting!!"
—Bruce, Vancouver

"We had the greatest time. My spouse thoroughly enjoyed the whole show. She had no background information to relate to, however, the music & the interactiveness between audience & cast made a huge difference. I, on the other hand grew up with the music & the times when "Buddy" began his career, when he became a star & the tragic time of his death. The show provided many memories of when I was growing up. Beautiful production, hugely talented cast, would recommend the show to anyone"
—Tiny, Vernon

"Truly the best production we have ever attended. I would certainly recommend everyone to attend as it will be the best concert you and I have attended this year. Truly rated well over 15 out of 10. An unbelievably fantastic musical performance"
—Leona, New Westminster

"What a fun show!!! From start to finish, I was smiling & having a good time. The story line was fascinating & the actors/musicians were amazingly talented. I loved that the audience was included in little bits & we were invited to sing along. The encores & a personal dialogue by the star, Zachary, was especially exciting. I felt like I was at a live concert. Sooooo much fun!!!!!!"
—Teresa

"We saw a production of Buddy in London and this one was way better. Perhaps the more intimate size of the Stanley helps, but we had a foot stompin’ sing-along good time, as did everyone around us. Bravo!"
—Rick and Colette

"Nothing but raves! Outstanding production, especially for “Buddy.” My teenage years flashed before my eyes recapturing the essence of that time. Well done!!!"

—Rowena, Vancouver

"Fabulous production! Zach sounded just like Buddy Holly and I would see the performance again"
—Lorraine, West Vancouver

"Incredible show, Zachary is amazing. I have seen the show 3 times now and each time is better than the one before. The performance is worthy of Broadway. I may go one more time this summer"
—Liane, Port Coquitlam

"Fantastic evening at the Stanley. To be able to go back in time and see Buddy Holly. What a blessing, what a show. My son Jason bought tickets for the family so we had balcony seats and seats right below the stage and we changed at half time. Both seating area's were great. No matter where you were you got a terrific show. Never got to see Buddy live before he died but now I have come as close as I could have. It took me back in time and that in this day and age is almost impossible to do. My wife and sons were very impressed by the way the show was presented and they thoroughly enjoyed the bar area at half time. You put on a first rate evening for my family and we will be back. Well done"
—Dean, Princeton

"My husband and I were overwhelmed by the show. Buddy has always been one of my husband's fave and he said he finally got to see him in person!!! It was "FABULOUS"…. Thank you to everyone in the play as well!"

—Toni

"Great show and production. Standing ovation well deserved"

—Wayne, Delta

"The rafters rang; the building threatened to collapse; and the music lingered all night to create a most pleasurable sense of aesthetic dreaming. I will return next summer for my third attendance. I guess you could say that I like Buddy"
—Paul, Vancouver

"How does one describe the enthusiasm that is portrayed by these actors for the people they project. Amazing is an overused word but they were truly amazing. It was the second time I have seen the show and clapped, and sang and seat dance just as much if not more than the first time. Will hopefully go again. LOVED IT!!!!!!"
—Tannis

"This was my third time seeing "Buddy." Every time, I thoroughly enjoyed the cast, the songs and the vitality of the whole production. It is interesting to see the mixture of ages…. I was in my highschool years and remember the wonderful songs and this tragedy, yet I brought a 17 year old to the show this time and she enjoyed the show as much as I"
—Lee, Richmond

"Non-stop excitement! Great music! Fun for all!"
—Barbara, Vancouver

"Loved, loved, loved "Buddy"! Zachary Stevenson has an amazing voice. This high-energy performance made us smile and bounce through the entire production. During intermission, my husband commented that Act I alone was well worth the price of admission"
—Pat, Richmond

"I saw this great production in 2010 and was hoping it would return. I jumped at the chance to see it again in 2012. I am old enough to remember when Buddy Holly and the Crickets first appeared on the charts, and, from the beginning was a huge fan. I have, if not the complete works of Buddy Holly, as near as damn it, and I can say that Zachary Stevenson NAILS IT!! Two yesrs ago, I told him that in the Stanley lobby where he was selling CDs. I didn't have time to stay around yesterday, as I had a meeting to attend, but I'd be grateful if you'd pass along to him that he is still NAILING IT! As I said, I have a huge collection of Buddy Holly music and when I'd occasionally shut my eyes during the performance, it was like listening to my LP's, not only the voice, but also the guitar hooks...incredible. I guess from my comments you gathered I loved the show, lol. The rest of the cast was also great, esp. the 3-part harmonies by the ladies. Great show, thx for it"
—Tom, Vancouver

"Loved it!! Took my Dad, whose in his 70s, wish I'd also taken my teens. SO much talent in every single person, including the musicians (LOVE that saxophone)!"
—Susan, Port Coquitlam

—Elizabeth

"Fantastic show! My mum and I had a wonderful time"
—Angela, Vancouver

"I saw Buddy last night, July 12th, with some friends, and it was one of the best shows I have seen. Buddy/Zachary is marvelous with his high energy love of the performance. Can't think of a better show to send friends to. I bought my tickets nearly a year ago as the show was last sold-out and it was certainly worth the wait"
—Nancy, North Vancouver

"As an American who spends about half year outside the USA including 1 week of every month in Vancouver, I will take in about 25 plays per year. The theatre is very dear to me as my college minor was music, art, & theatre. During the period of time I spend in Vancouver, the Arts Club has become my venue of choice. I not only attend many of your productions, I freely recommend to others. By coincidence I was a guest last week of the Manager and the Artistic Director in Qualicum Beach at the Village Theatre. There I learned a lot about the background of Zach Stevenson whom I had first seen two years ago and his entire crew. He and his family are well-known in those parts and VERY well-respected. AMAZING!!! That's what I said then and after last evening, is what I am saying now. Also, I am saying THANK YOU. You've fed my soul"
—Eric, Mercer Island, WA

"What energy! What talent! What fun! I'm not a huge fan of 50s music, I enjoy—but I absolutely loved this show!"
—Jennifer, Surrey

"Loved this performance. The actor playing Buddy was fabulous and we really enjoyed the musicians and other singers. This show was recommended to us by friends that saw it 3 times last time it was on in Vancouver. We are recommending it to our friends as well. One of the best musicals that I have seen in a long time"
—Barbara, North Vancouver

"This was one of the best shows we have seen in a long time. It was very well done, and it was great leaving the theatre with that feel good factor. I would certainly recommend it to anyone"
—Bill, Surrey

"My wife & I really enjoyed the Buddy Holly production. The guys & gals put on a great show & it brought back a lot of memories from when we were kids. Awesome!!"
—Dan, Port Coquitlam

"Good thing I was sitting in the middle of the row…or you would have seen me dancing in the aisles. Congratulations for an excellent production"
—Beryl, Vancouver

"The energy and sense of fun from the excellent cast was absolutely contagious! I saw this show in 2010 and if anything enjoyed this year's version even more! Loved the Apollo Theatre MC! The audience was totally drawn into the show and sang and danced even when not asked to. Maybe the energy level was so high being that we saw this production the first night"
—Maureen, Port Coquitlam

"Been to lots of shows in the Stanley Alliance Stage and this is without doubt the best entertainment yet by a long shot and will take a lot of beating…. Well-done to all involved. We all had a great day and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Thanks a lot"
—Darrin, Deep Cove

"For a while it was 1958-59 again and Buddy Holly was at the top of the charts. It was a wonderful high energy production. Buddy was fantastic... are you sure it wasn't really him? Hearing Red Robinson's voice from CKWX 1130 was "electric" - it took us back to times when he ruled the Vancouver Rock & Roll scene. If you lived and grew up through this era you have to see this show!!"
—Al, North Vancouver

"I gave my partner tickets for his 50th and we enjoyed the show very much. I have passed along to friends a good review so hope they get the chance to enjoy the production as much as we did. It's seldom I know all the words to all the songs! Can't wait for the new season to begin."
—M, Surrey

"I liked the show so much that when I had visitors coming from the Philippines, I bought them tickets and Buddy was one of the highlights of their visit to Vancouver."
—Pete, Richmond

"This show was truly wonderful. We clapped, cheered, laughed and cried. What a luminous and passionate performance! Well done!"
—Ann, White Rock

"This show was fantastic. I really liked the audience interaction. It was like you were actually there at his performances. I would highly recommend this play."
—Shera, New Westminster

"We laughed! We cried! We sang! We remembered! Zachary and the whole cast were so believable and talented we were transported back to the late 1950's for a most enjoyable afternoon!"

"I remember as a teenager buying Buddy Holly EPs and being totally immersed in Buddy Holly magic! So when I saw the Buddy Holly musical playing at the Arts Club Industrial Alliance Stage ...I told all my friends and attended with my wife. I was amazed at this fast paced musical....the playing (band) and the dancing...I only wish there was more room in the balcony for me to get up and dance!
Buddy Holly and The Crickets were ahead of their time...they broke new ground in recording technology and I am glad this play brought the spirit and vitality of a young man from Lubbock, Texas to life.
Thank You Arts Club!!!"
—Barry, West Vancouver

Thank you so much, each and every one of you."

"We recently attended a matinee performance of Buddy and were thoroughly impressed with the whole production. Zachary Stevenson steals the show as Buddy but his supporting cast (with many doing double duty) are also to be commended for their quality performances. The staging was exceptional, especially the clever dual settings at the Apollo Theatre. Authentic 50s costuming added important detail. But the best, the very best, was the music, played to perfection by an outstanding group of musicians. What fun! Congratulations! Rave on!"
—Gayle, Surrey
