The Arts Club is proud to partner with Kickstart Disability Arts & Culture to present a second season of live audio-described theatre at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage.

Each performance listed below will be described for our patrons who are blind, partially sighted, and visually impaired. Each patron is given a personal receiver and single earpiece that allows her or him to hear both the show and the live audio description at the same time.

Kickstart’s professionally trained team of VocalEye describers begin their broadcast 15 minutes prior to curtain with an introduction to the production, followed by detailed descriptions of the set, characters, and costumes. Once the show begins, the describers transmit the visual details of the performance between the actors’ lines. For example, “Thelma bursts in”; “Kitty pulls gun from her purse”; “Bob hides under bed.” Company credits, performer biographies, and programme notes are also read at the intermission.
