The Arts Club is proud to partner with VocalEye
Descriptive Arts Society in presenting live, audio-described theatre at
the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage and the Granville Island Stage.
Each performance listed below will be described for our patrons who are
blind, partially sighted, and visually impaired. Patrons are given a
personal receiver and single earpiece that allows them to hear both the
show and the live audio description at the same time. VocalEye’s
professionally trained team of audio describers begin their broadcast
through a wireless radio signal 15 minutes prior to curtain, providing
detailed descriptions of the set, characters, and costumes. Once the show
begins, the describers transmit the physical action and visual details of
the performance between the lines of dialogue. Company credits, performer
biographies, and programme notes may also be read at intermission.
