A SIP OF WINE AND A SPLASH OF MURDER.
“They're two of the dearest, sweetest, kindest old ladies that ever walked the earth. They're out of this world...” -Brophy

At the old Brewster home in Brooklyn, a pair of elderly sisters mix up very special elderberry wine which they “charitably” serve to lonely gentlemen houseguests. The antics of their nephews, Teddy, who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt; Mortimer, a manic theatre critic; and Jonathan, an escaped murderer, make for hilarious mayhem. Add a liberal dose of good old-fashioned Brooklyn law and order and the stage is set for farce and fireworks.

Audiences were delightfully surprised when Joseph Kesselring’s classic farce opened on Broadway in August 1941 at a time when the New York theatre scene was saturated with plethora of socially-aware dramas. The play was so well received that it ran for over three years before being made into a highly successful Frank Capra film starring Cary Grant.

“The best slapstick comedy in history!” ~Amazon

“The cast of characters is irresistibly entertaining.” ~New York Herald Tribune
