UNIQUE LIVES —SHARED EXPERIENCES. A BOND
THAT’S NEVER BROKEN.
“You invent these versions of me and I don’t recognize
myself…I look at you and I see myself” -Vi
A witty modern look at the bond between sisters and the people who love them, The Memory of Water is the story of three sisters who reunite at their seaside childhood home on the eve of their mother’s funeral. Playwright Stephenson treats us to wonderfully complex, sharply observed portrait of a family of women as they attempt to survive this emotionally loaded time. This is a truly brilliant comedy by one of Britain’s most celebrated contemporary playwrights.
First produced in London to rapturous reviews, The Memory of Water has indeed taken on life of its own. Productions have been success-fully mounted in Croatia, Finland, New York, Chicago, Toronto, Germany, Belgium and now, Vancouver.
“Combines a flair for witty dialogue with a relish for the dynamics of theatre …Stephenson, a mistress of comic anguish, is clearly a real find ” ~The Guardian
