PLAY IT COOL, BOY!
“Tonight, won't be just any night, tonight there will be no morning star.” -Tony

West Side Story sets Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in 1950s New York and moves beyond the traditional light-hearted entertainment of musical theatre. In this timeless story, young lovers Maria and Tony are forced to fight for their love in the midst of a war between their two rival gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Featuring an electrifying musical score with the songs and lyrics of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim including Tonight, Maria, I Feel Pretty and Somewhere, West Side Story is a breathtaking musical for all ages.

The skillful updating of Shakespeare’s plot intricacies are at the heart of West Side Story’s success. West Side Story ran nearly two years, then toured nationally before returning to New York in 1960 for another 253 performances. In 1961 it was released as a feature film.

“A profoundly moving show…Everything contributes to the total impression of wildness, ecstasy and anguish.” ~New York Times
