“Most people stop at Port Hardy…. After that, they say it’s just hermits and fog.”

The charismatic Nicola Cavendish returns to the Arts Club in the premiere of a delightful comedy set on Vancouver Island, way up island. Meet Tory Jean, Rocky, Lorraine, Herb, and a host of eccentric characters who gather for clams and Lucky beer—and unwittingly celebrate the end of one relationship and the blossoming of another. With humour and warmth, Up Island highlights the importance of friends and neighbours in uncertain times.

David King has written extensively for the stage, as well as for radio and film. His plays Garage Sale and Life Skills each earned him a Jessie Richardson Theatre Award. In 1998 the Arts Club premiered his play Joey Shine.
